    Below you will find some of the most frequently asked questions of families inquiring about Saint Thomas.  If you cannot find the answer to your questions here, please do not hesitate to reach out to the school office at 859-572-4641.

    • Do we have to be Catholic to attend Saint Thomas?
      • No, being Catholic is not a requirement for enrollment at Saint Thomas.  However, all students will be taught about the Catholic faith in religion class and attend prayer services and Mass with their class. 

    • How many students attend Saint Thomas?
      • Saint Thomas has approximately 215 students enrolled in grades Preschool through 8th grade.  There are an additional 60 children enrolled in our preschool program.

    • What is the average class size?
      • The average class size in grades Kindergarten through 8th grade is 20 students.
    • When does the school year begin and end?
      • Mid August — the End of May

    • What are the school hours?
      • School begins at 7:55 AM each day and dismissal begins at 2:55 pm. 

    • How often do students attend Mass?
      • Students in Kindergarten through 8th grade attend Mass twice per week.

        K-5 attend Mass on Wednesday
        6-8 attend Mass on Thursday
        All School Masses are every Friday

        Each class has the opportunity to plan two (2) Masses during the year as well as participate in the Mass by proclaiming the Word, reading a petition, bringing up the gifts and/or singing in the choir. Students in grade 4 and older are trained to be altar servers.

    • Is there after school care available?
      • Yes!  Saint Thomas School offers after-school care, called STAC, in our school building each day.  STAC is for students in Kindergarten — 8th Grade. 

    • What about gym, music, art or additional classes?
      • Students at Saint Thomas receive instruction in physical education, music, art, and Spanish, from dedicated specialist teachers.

        Grade 6-8 students have additional opportunities to participate in trimester-based elective classes.
    • Where do students go after 8th grade?
      • The majority of our 8th grade graduates attend Newport Central Catholic High School, while some choose to continue their Catholic education at other local Catholic Schools like Bishop Brossart, Covington Catholic, Notre Dame, and Saint Xavier.

        Some students continue to Highlands High School.
